Falconara K9 is a small kennel located in southwestern Virginia.  We are dedicated towards producing a line of working White Shepherds who also excell in the showring.  Currently we are training towards degrees in Schutzhund and Herding, and we hope to try Search and Rescue, Agility and other dog related sports in the future.  Our moto is "Solid, Functional, Versatile" because we believe in the importance of a solid and functional dog of good health, structure and nerves who is able to meet the versatile requirements that the original breed creator set out for them.

Ruby  was born and bred in Holland bu Dolly Harmsen. She is registered with the FCI, UKC and AWSA.
She is currently training towards degrees in Protection Sport and Herding.  Her structure is very solid, and she has a smooth gait that lends itself well to herding.  She is also very feminine, and Judges have constanty commented that with maturity that comes with age she should turn into a stunner!
She has a submissive temperment around other dogs, but is full of personality at training and at home.  She is very solid nerved, which is her strongest suit in SchH.  Ruby is also UKC Ch pointed, and the eventual goal is to earn a U-GrCH.
We will make the determination to breed her closer to the age of two, pending health exams and working titles.    Ruby is a fantastic girl, and we are very happy to have her!
Leo was born in Ky and bred by Rose Bible of Paws Inn Kennels.  He is registered with the AKC, UKC and AWSA.
Where Ruby is a superb herder, Leo is all about drives.  He is doing splendidly in his training towards SchH, with a solid bite and alot of desire to hold on.  He has a higher defense drive and is improving with every training session that goes by.
Leo has a very drivey gait that suits him well...alot of power through the rear.  His gait has lent itself well to showing and he has recently earn his U-Ch.  We'll continue to campaign him for a GrCH title.
He is a more dominant Male, and should mature with excellent secondary sex characteristics.  We look forward to seeing what he does with us in the future!

One of our passions is the working dog.  Schutzhund Sport - a sport created by the mastermind behind the German Shepherd, Max V. Staphanitz - is one fabulous way to test a working dog.  It helps to test the nerves, environmental soundness, structure, drives and temperment of the dogs that go through it.  It has three phases : Obedience, Tracking and Protection.  In addition to SchH there are other Protection Sports.  The SDA - Service Dogs of America - is a UKC lisncensed dog sport that is gaining popularity in the sport world.  I plan to title both my dogs in the SDA - Ruby up through Protection Alert and Leo as far as he will go.  Currently we are training with the Star City Canine Club in Roanoke, VA with helpers Chip and Jesse.
Herding is another working function that I feel is very important inmy dogs.  Both my dogs have been herding and will be titled in herding.  In Germany there is a Herding sport called the HGH - which is similiar to the AKC C-course only with far more sheep.  My goal is to train Ruby for the AKC C-Course and HGH competition for the future, as that seems to be her strongest suit!
In the future I would like to play some with Agility,Weight Pull and Dock Diving.  However - I plan to do these as a side venture...my main focus is SchH, Herding, and eventually Search and Rescue.  I feel that the White Lines have alot to give the world. should they only know what they have in front of them in our dogs!
At the end of the days of training however my dogs are still house dogs and live with me at my apartment in Blacksburg, VA.  It is important to me that they have the solid nerves that allow them to be able to turn their drives on and off.  They arent just competition, they are also family, and while they do train vigourously it is always nice to have a warm, fuzzy body to steal my bed space at night.

Below you will see a collage of what my dogs do.  I will add more of each sport in the future...but it is sometimes hard because I am usually the one behind the lense...and now I seem to be the one behind the leash!  Whether it be Schutzhund, showing, herding, playing or standing still for a camera (obedience), our dogs have the versatlity to do it all!

And  last but certainly not least in my heart!

If you have any questions or comments about my dogs or my goals or any of the sports I comete in, please feel free to contact me!  Additionally, I can also answer many questions related to the Berger Blanc Suisse in Europe or put you in contact with someone who might; and I am always happy to look for information on genetics!
