Conformation
titles
These are awarded by
national clubs to dogs that
are judged to be good representatives of the club's breed standard
(like a beauty contest title). Although White German Shepherds are not
eligible to compete in CKC or AKC conformation shows any more (since
1998 and 1968 respectively), the following clubs host shows for White
Shepherds: UKC CH ...... United Kennel Club conformation
champion
UKC GR CH ... UKC Grand Champion (requires 5 wins against champions)
AWSA CH .. American White Shepherd Association conformation champion
WSCC CH .. White Shepherd Club of Canada conformation champion
FORB CH ... Federation of Rare Breeds conformation champion
WGSDCI CH .. White German Shepherd Dog Club International
Champion
RBCSWO CH....Rare Breed Club of SW Ontario conformation champion
ARBA CH ..American Rare Breed Association Champion
Health clearances
One of the major health
problems affecting the
German Shepherd Dog today is Hip Dysplasia. Breeding animals can be
screened for this progressive degenerative joint disease by a simple
x-ray procedure. If the x-rays are sent to a specialist, and are found
to be free of dysplasia, the owner will be issued a certificate to this
effect. Elbows are also subject to Dysplasia and breeders should have
the elbows checked at the same time as the hips. Various Certifications
can be issued by:
CERF ........Canine Eye Registry Foundation
OFA THY ...OFA Thyroid Certified
OFA CA ....OFA Cardiac Certified
% vWF .......von Willebrand's Factor (60%-130% is normal)
OFA ........ Orthopedic Foundation for Animals, Inc. (must be 2 years
old)
................. (USA) Passing hips will be graded as Fair, Good or
Excellent.
OVC ....... Ontario Veterinary College (Canada) (dog must be 18 months
old)
................. Hips will be graded as Pass or Fail.
PennHIP ... Developed at University of Pennsylvania
................. (USA) The procedure measures hip joint laxity, a
predictor of HD;
................. Scored from 0-100% compared to other dogs of the same
breed. Performance titles

combined titles for dogs with
UDX and other tracking titles.
NOTE 3: The Champion Tracker title is not a competitively earned title
and does not figure into Dual or Triple Champion titles. (The OTCH can
be the third CH in a Triple, though.)
